As soon as Hitler's forces occupied the Channel Islands in 1940 he ordered a series of fortifications to defend the only British territory he ever conquered. The problem was he never stopped - pouring men, concrete and weapons into the islands. By 1944 his officers talked of the Fuehrer's inselwahn - his 'island madness' and the Channel Islands had become the most fortified place on earth.

Alderney, a tiny island in the English Channel, is the site of one of the darkest and most mysterious chapters in World War II. Given the sinister codename 'Adolf Island', Alderney became a preoccupation for Hitler and was transformed into one of the most heavily fortified places on earth. Away from prying eyes, the Nazis also established a concentration camp, the only one on British soil, amid the idyllic scenery of woodlands and silver sand beaches. But how many people were murdered there and why were the Nazi killers never brought to justice? Over two 60-minute episodes, Hitler's British Island will reveal the startling death toll - far in excess of the number recorded by wartime investigators. And following painstaking research by expert historians, the show will reveal how Nazi war criminals were allowed to go free, with the reason covered up for 80 years. Produced by Tin Roof Media-backed UK indie Blink Films and WPP-owned GroupM Motion Entertainment, the 2×60′ series sheds new light on the Channel Island of Alderney, which was the only part of the British Isles occupied by Germany during the Second World War. The show’s executive producers are former C5 director of programmes Dan Chambers and Tom Adams for Blink Films and Martin Oxley for GroupM Motion Entertainment. It is produced and directed by Andy Webb (The Diana Interview: The Truth Behind the Scandal, Bashir & the BBC).

Visual artist Piers Secunda seeks out Hitler's Island Slaves. Meeting families of survivors, Secunda finds new forensic evidence of murder, brutality and a British government cover-up following the Nazi reign of terror on British soil.
